I grew up in the thriving metropolis of Seminole, Oklahoma, a town of roughly 6,500 people. I’ve been in church since I was 9 months old. I grew up in the First Free Will Baptist Church in my hometown. My family was very involved in the church as my dad was the music leader, my aunt (his sister) was the pianist starting at age 16, and their parents were very involved in the leadership of the church, my grandpa being a leader of the deacons.

I have lived in 5 states, attended 10 different schools, lived in 13+ houses (lost count at some point), and lived in multiple cities in each state. I was born in North Carolina, but consider West Palm Beach, FL to be my childhood home. Now, as a transplant to New Orleans, I proudly say that I am home and I love this city. My wife, Rachel, and I moved to New Orleans for graduate school after college. I graduated last summer while Rachel is still plowing on her Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling. There is no place like the city of New Orleans in the world. The rich history of culture, food, and music are some of my favorite highlights.

My Story

A major part of my story has to do with my mom and dad. I was born an only child to parents who were later in life when I was conceived. When they first married, they began trying to have children but quickly discovered that they were infertile. This devastated my parents. Both of them love and follow Jesus, however, so they quickly turned to the Bible and to prayer for comfort and direction.

Vintage Family,

We have seen Community Groups multiply, churches planted, and missionary teams sent out across the country and the globe. The Lord is using our church to impact not only the New Orleans region, but the entire world.

I grew up in the small town of Cleveland, MS. It’s in an area called the Mississippi Delta, famous for agriculture and being the birthplace of the blues and notorious for poverty and being 50 years behind the times in race relations. This is the town where I went to school and graduated high school. I spent four years as a Fighting Okra and received my B.A. in psychology from Delta State University in the same town. Before “discovering” we loved each other (and had loved each other for quite a while), my wife, Jill-Curry, and I grew up together and were best friends all throughout our school years. We were married in 2008, and we now have 3 boys: Myles, Smith, and Roscoe.

I was born and raised in a small town in southwest Ohio. When I was nine years, old my neighbors invited me to church on Wednesday night. After several weeks of going and participating, there was one particular night where I repented of my sin and confessed Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Prior to that, I must have heard the gospel multiple times. However, something was very different that night. That night, the Holy Spirit spoke to me and saved me. I was baptized a year later. When I was in eighth grade, I felt a calling into vocational ministry and began to pursue it through high school. After graduating high school, I went to college at Miami University (Ohio) where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications.
