How Will You Read the Story?

As we approach the new year many of us are thinking about New Year’s Resolutions. If you are like me, resolutions never work. I never keep them. I do, however, fight to make and keep goals. Goals and resolutions are very different. Smart goals are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. Resolutions unfortunately usually never resemble any of those characteristics.

Our Hope in the Midst of Brokenness

Our Hope in the Midst of Brokenness

A horrific tragedy occurred on Friday, December 14, 2012 in Newtown, Connecticut as a gunman killed many adults and children at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Like many of you, I was saddened as I saw the photos, watched interviews, and saw President Obama choke up as he addressed the nation and heard of the innocent lives that were taken. Our country has been reminded of the reality of sin and the need of hope that comes through Jesus Christ. I’m thankful for Pastor John Piper’s writing and Dr. Al Mohler’s writing which both communicate this so clearly.

Vintage Family,

Gospel Multiplication has been our DNA from day one.  We are a church family that is more passionate about sending than keeping, empowering than controlling, MULTIPLYING than staying. In four amazing years we have multiplied from one community group in Uptown to a ton of groups all over our city. We also have multiplied from one campus in Uptown to three campuses in Metairie and Lakefront. Every campus and group has delivered Jesus and we have witnessed the transforming power of the Gospel.  We are so thankful for all that Jesus has done and have no doubt that He has only just begun.

It has slowly crept westward from Jerusalem to Turkey and Greece, to Italy, Germany and England, before eventually winding up in America. I’d love to say that America is still the epicenter of Christianity, but that would take ignoring statistics and the recent rise of Faith in the Far East.

Being a Mom

 Being a Mom

I have a friend who had a baby recently. I sent her an e-mail to encourage her in the difficult days of having a newborn. Robert, my husband, encouraged me to blog about it, but before I share that with you let me just say that I am by no means an expert mother. I don’t think that I’ve got it all together and under control. I am a mother of four beautiful children and the oldest of six. I do feel like in my 9 1/2 years of motherhood that I have learned a few things and I sincerely want to be an encouragement to any mom who might need to hear this.

The Name You Leave Behind

The Name You Leave Behind

In 100 years its possible your children, grandchildren or great grandchildren will mention you every once in a while. But what about in 200 years? How often have you thought about your great great great grandfather or your great great great great grandmother? They may have been amazing people but unless they were the leader of an army or leader of a country, an inventor or innovator of some sort, you probably wouldn’t be able to say much about them. You might even be hard pressed to even know their name.
