Disaster Relief Strategy

Vintage Church Family & Partners,

This past week has been a very challenging time for our city and region.  For the most part we have heard that although we have been hit hard, everyone in our church family is safe.  I am so proud of each of you and thank God for how He has protected us.   Thanks to all who have been praying and encouraging us through this time.  We are in great need for your continued support over the next few weeks.  Much like storms in the past, we now have a great opportunity to serve our city.  Believe and trust that Jesus is working all of this for His glory!

Here is our strategy as we recover from Hurricane Isaac:

Church Partners & Friends

Pray

Please keep praying through this time.  We truly believe that God has given us an incredible opportunity to rise up as the church.  Pray that thousands would come to faith in Jesus as we serve people physically and spiritually.

Send A Team

We have 2 properties that can serve as host sites for disaster relief in Metairie and Uptown.  Currently we don’t have any commitments but here are our plans if you can come to New Orleans and help.

In Metairie we own a property with a building and a large field.  In Uptown we rent & partner with Carrollton United Methodist.  Both of these locations are in the middle of a lot of damage.  We will use disaster teams to help provide food and drinks, provide medical resources, and have chainsaw & clean up crews to help with trees and yards.  We will utilize our properties for sleeping and possible showers for the volunteer teams. We believe that we need to focus during this opportunity on providing a place of refuge and support to the needs in our community.

Locations:

  1. Metairie Campus (3927 Rayne St. Metairie, LA  70125)
  2. Uptown Campus – Carrollton United Methodist Church (921 S. Carrollton Ave  New Orleans, LA  70118)

If you are willing to bring a Disaster Relief Team to New Orleans, please email info@vintageunited.tv.  One of our Campus Pastors (Matt Brichetto – Uptown, Dustin Turner – Metairie) will be in touch with you ASAP.

Community Groups

Part of the DNA of our church has been to mobilize people to not just go to church but to be the church.  We are primarily connected through our Community Groups.  Over 75% of our church family is connected to our groups.  Over the next few weeks we will have a great opportunity to serve each other and our city.

CG Leaders

Please check up on everyone in your group and then begin to put a plan together on how you can serve your friends and family in each community.  Please contact your Campus Pastor or Discipleship Director if you need some assistance and please utilize our Disaster Relief Centers as a resource for this work.

Gather

We will host gatherings in both locations this weekend on Sunday to serve as a time of encouragement to our Volunteer Teams and the Community.  There will be one gathering in each location instead of our normal two gatherings.  Please make every possible effort to make a gathering as we will utilize this time to rally and encourage our church.  Also use this gathering as a way to invite people that you serve in your community.
