Let’s Go! – Partnership with The Brees Dream Foundation & CWAM

This past weekend we started our journey through the Real Jesus series. We learned some important truths from John 1:14. Jesus is God, He became flesh, and He dwelt among us. We concluded that because Jesus came to us, we are called to GO. Christmas is a great time for us to live this out and reflect the Real Jesus to our city. Here is the plan that we introduced this weekend.

This Christmas Vintage Church is partnering with our friends the Brees Dream Foundation and Companies With A Mission (CWAM) as they have committed to give away ONE MILLION DOLLARS to local charities in our region through the Super Service Challenge (www.superservicechallenge.com).

How and why did we decide to partner with this opportunity?

From the beginning of Vintage Church, we have been passionate about going. We love and appreciate many different types of churches but our DNA has been to multiply instead of gather. We believe that we are called to put more effort into going to people than asking them to come to us.

This fall I have had the privilege of serving with the New Orleans Saints. After one chapel this past season, I had the opportunity to talk with Drew Brees about the Super Service Challenge. He shared with me that he is really excited about this challenge because of the potential impact all over our region. Instead of trying to rally people in one location for charity work, why not empower people to go and love on all the incredible charities around our region that are already doing such a great work. I love it! Thanks Drew for leading our region to GO! This is exactly the vision that Jesus has given our Vintage Family as we continue to make an impact in New Orleans.

Follow these 5 easy steps and get to work. Click here to download a pdf summary with more details.

  1. Gather a small group of people (Community Group, Co-workers, Friends, etc) & pick a charity to serve.
  2. Contact the charity and schedule a day to serve.
  3. Create your team’s account and register your participation at www.superservicechallenge.com
  4. Serve on that date.
  5. Submit your entry by January 7, 2013 at 5pm.

The Brees Dream Foundation, CWAM, and the public will vote on the top entries. The winners will win various money awards for the charity that they served.

We would love to hear how God has used you to serve with your community group and with your friends. This will help us learn the different needs all over our region and how we can serve them in the future.
