How To Prepare for Easter?

Each and every year Easter rolls around. Many of us know and anticipate this Sunday. This is the Sunday that Jesus Christ arose from the grave after being dead for three days. It is an incredible day, celebrating the resurrection of Jesus and the future resurrection that we who hope in Christ will one day experience. Many of us, however, never take advantage of the Lent season.

For those of us who live in the New Orleans area, we also know all about Mardi Gras and the fun that we and others have. Many of us also know about Ash Wednesday, when many in our city participate in corporate repentance. What of lent then? Why do so many celebrate it? Lent is an approximately six week period of spiritual preparation for Good Friday (the day Jesus was crucified) and Easter (the Sunday Jesus was resurrected). For many Christians this is a period of prayer, fasting, repentance, and study.

This Lent, Vintage Church wants to provide you with a devotional guide for you to use during Lent to prepare you spiritually for the death and resurrection of Jesus. We are so thankful for our friends at Frontline Church and Bridgeway Church who have developed a devotional and made it available for other churches to use. It’s called “Lent: A Forty Day Journey to the Cross.” You can find a PDF copy of the devotional HERE or a link to it below.

I hope this resource proves to be valuable for you. May we all experience Jesus this Lent and Easter season.
