How Will You Read the Bible in 2020?

Over the last two years with Vintage Church, one thing that has excited me is our plan to read the Bible together. For the last two years, Vintage Church has utilized the F260 Bible Reading plans. In 2018, we read through portions of both the Old and New Testaments, and in 2019 we have read through the entire New Testament together. For many of us, these simple Bible reading plans have helped us read the Bible consistently for the first time. Because these Bible reading plans have been so helpful for so many, we’re going to continue to read the Bible together in 2020.

In 2020, as we continue to read the Bible together, we’re going to change up how we read the Bible together. We’re going to read the Bible using He Reads Truth/She Reads Truth Bible Reading Plans. She Reads Truth and He Reads Truth are communities of men and women committed to reading God’s Word together every day. Their Bible reading plans focus on books of the Bible, topics that matter, and seasons of the church calendar.

As we kick off 2020, we’re going to utilize 3 Bible Reading plans that focus on prayer: (1) Psalms for Prayer, (2) Give Thanks, and (3) Psalms of Rest. These three Bible Reading plans will take 7 weeks and will coincide with our series through the Lord’s Prayer

As we approach 2020, let me tell you why I’m excited to utilize these Bible reading plans from She Reads Truth and He Reads Truth:

They’re made for both Men and Women

The Bible reading plans are the same for both men and women, but they also do a fantastic job making their app and books aesthetically pleasing to both men and women.

They’re short

How often have you gotten behind in a Bible reading plan, got overwhelmed, and quit? The great thing about these reading plans is that they provide “free days” to catch up and they’re short. So, if you get so far behind you can’t catch up, once the plan ends, you can begin the next one. In 2020, there will be multiple opportunities to begin reading the Bible with Vintage Church.

They’re available in multiple formats

She Reads Truth and He Reads Truth Bible reading plans can be used in three different formats. The plans and a brief commentary are available for free online. You can find the reading plans on their phone apps for a small price. And if you like hard copies of the plans, they can be purchased online as well.

They’ll often coincide with our sermon series

We’re working to line up many of the Bible reading plans with our sermon series. For example, during our series on the Lord’s Prayer, we’ll be reading Bible passages focused on prayer. Also, during our Lent series, She Reads Truth/He Reads Truth will have a Lent Bible reading plan. This will no doubt strengthen what we’re learning on Sunday mornings.

These studies are obviously not the only ways to read the Bible, but I do believe they are helpful resources for reading the Bible. If you’re thinking about reading the Bible in 2020, I want to encourage you to use these studies. If you’re not sure about reading the Bible in 2020, just try it. Get access to the first reading plan and simply begin!
