 When Our Men are Stirred, Our City will be Changed

Many years ago there was a city that had been devastated by a strong foreign enemy. The city was ransacked, people were murdered. The surviving families were taken away. Many of these families wrestled with hopelessness and depression because of fear that promises from their God were now dashed. His temple had been destroyed and the other nation was celebrating the victory of their gods. However, this scene of destruction was not the end of the story. Instead, the Lord was getting ready to teach all these families two lessons: He is faithful to keep promises and He can do great work through men who follow Him.

Why Gospel Multiplication?

This past weekend Pastor Rob shared the big news that Vintage Church is moving from two campuses to three campuses. Many ask “why add another campus? Doesn’t that mean more work, time, energy, and money will be needed?” The answer is a definite yes. Nonetheless, Vintage Church is multiplying to three campuses for one reason: Gospel Multiplication. Vintage Church defines Gospel Multiplication in this way: “Vintage Church is committed to our core values of living the Gospel (Truth), loving the city (Love), and being the church (Community) by multiplying individuals, community groups, and gatherings in New Orleans and beyond.”

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

There’s an old song by David Bowie called “Changes.” (Watch YouTube here) Part of the lyrics go: “Time may change me, but I can’t trace time.” There is some dispute over what he means by these lyrics but I think he’s explaining that changes happen in time but he doesn’t understand why they have to happen. Change is a part of life. One of the few things you can be sure of in this life is that things are going to change. How we handle change can determine our outlook on life.

A Life Well Lived

This past week has been filled with sorrow and joy as the passing of one of our church family members and best friends cut deep. Death and feeling the void of that person in our lives is hard on all of us who are left behind. But as believers in Christ we can also rejoice when one of our brothers or sisters in Christ dies because we know that they are in the presence of Jesus and that we will get to see them again one day soon.
