SERVE the CITY Opportunities for Katrina 10

August 29, 2015 marks the 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. These past 10 years our city has been rebuilt by thousands of locals and hundreds of thousands volunteers from around the world. Our city has made many strides and grown. The story that is being written is truly amazing. We as New Orleanians and Vintage Church are a part of this story. We have a huge role to play as Christians and a church.

On Saturday August 29th, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and the City of New Orleans will host one of the most comprehensive service projects in the country as thousands will rally all over our city. K10 Serve Day is open to volunteers of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience. As a local church, we want to connect with our city and see most of the church serve on this Saturday. We have established several partnerships with K10 Serve Day sites to host Vintage Volunteers. We have projects in home construction, gardening and painting schools, and canvassing and surveying neighborhoods. We also want some volunteers to connect with the Light of Hope Ministry and serve among the homeless in our city. To volunteer with Vintage Volunteers at some of our partnership sites please register by August 23rd at our gatherings or by email.

Over the past 10 years, volunteers from down the street and around the world have contributed millions of hours to help New Orleans build back better than before. It's been faith-based groups, college students, corporations, individual residents and countless others facilitating our recovery. On behalf of the City of New Orleans, I want to thank the millions of volunteers for all their efforts, and I am very excited to come together on August 29 to demonstrate the spirit of service that has defined our recovery and will guide our future.” -- Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Press Release July 8, 2015
