We are praying and believing that Jesus will change lives on this evening. In anticipation of CHANGED, here are some great upcoming opportunities:
Read MoreThis Sunday we are going to look at how we need to GO URGENTLY to multiply the Gospel and impact the world. A couple of years ago I posted two blogs about sharing Christ with the world. This past Sunday I shared in summary the importance of being fishers of men. As we prepare for this Sunday, check out this video from last Sunday and re-read over these two blogs.
Let’s remind ourselves of the words of Jesus.
And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19
Simply put, fishing is all about sharing Jesus. I wanted to write a follow up blog sharing some more details of what we have been called to share and when we should share the Gospel.
I can’t believe that we’re home. On the one hand, the last five weeks went by way too fast for my family. We had a blast resting, playing, traveling, reading, and turning off. We were so blessed to make some lifelong memories. On the other hand, the last five weeks went by real slow. We really missed our friends and family in NOLA and couldn’t wait to get back. This break was never about fleeing a life that we hate. Instead it was about retreating from a world that we love and are honored to serve so that we can continue to walk faithfully in this call.
Read MoreHey Vintage Family.
Thanks so much for all the prayers and support during this time of rest and retreat. God has already encouraged us a ton and we can't wait to get back. As many of you know, I have been taking a break online and specifically my phone is completely turned off. I have sent this important message through Annabeth to the Pastors.
Read MoreOn a walk through our home you’ll see shoes by the doors, dishes in the sink, laundry on the kitchen table, guitars leaning against the wall, and legos, toys, and blankets on the floor. Keep looking around and you’ll also find crumbs on the floor and toothpaste on the counters. If you open a door, there is a good chance you’ll pull back a sticky hand. There are probably school books stacked and receipts in piles. There may be a Wii remote hiding on the back of the couch.
Read MoreOn Sunday, we continued our vGroups series, looking at how vGroups exist for transformation. If you missed the sermon, you can check it out here. We talked about how transformation ultimately comes through two means: Scripture and prayer. Yesterday, we noted the importance of being in the Word both individually as well as communally. You can find that blog post here.
Read MoreOn Sunday, we discussed how Vintage Church believes that one of the primary reasons vGroups exist is for transformation. We looked at Mark 2:1-12 and how Jesus healed a paralytic holistically, forgiving him of his sin and allowing him to walk again. We also saw how community is instrumental in transformation. While community cannot transform you, it can lead you to transformation. If you missed the sermon, you can catch it here.
Read MoreOn Sunday, Vintage Church kicked off our latest series, vGroups. If you've been at Vintage Church for any amount of time, you know that for the past several years, we have had Community Groups throughout the greater New Orleans area. While our Community Groups are incredible, we are renaming our Community Groups to vGroups for three reasons
Read MoreIt's not very often that I am completely alone. This is because I have an adult child with Autism. Even if Lawton is not with me, I am always available to him by phone, call, or text message.
April is Autism Awareness month, and April 2 is Autism Awareness Day. For the past several years, I have asked close friends and family to wear blue, eat Chick-fil-a nuggets or McDonald's pancakes (his favorites), or go to GameStop. The purpose of this is to remind our family and friends to stop and think of Lawton and pray for him. I ask these folks to take a photo of themselves and post it to social media with Lawton's hashtag, #lawtism. I want Lawton to see how much he is loved and how many friends he has who care about him and are praying for him. If I am honest, it's not just for him, it's for me too.
